In East Asia where Christ-followers can be thrown into jail for sharing their faith, we are very much encouraged and inspired by how God is using the local workers there in very special ways.
Caleb is a local worker we are mentoring to reach out to the Hui Moslems. He started an Education Centre that is strategically located right in the middle of a Hui community-area that is notorious for drug-related crimes.
Many of the kids who attend classes at the Centre are raised single-handedly by their Moms. So where are their fathers? Many are in prison serving life-imprisonment, or are already as it is the death penalty for those caught peddling drugs.
Caleb and his team makes regular home visits to help the families and pray for them. The Hui Moslems welcome them for they tell Caleb, he and his people are unlike the Imams (religious teachers/leaders) who expect and even demand cash payment for prayer. More importantly, the Hui Moslems have witnessed first-hand, answers to prayers for healing!
His team also visited the Imams at their homes. Caleb was praying for an Imam who started to tear when the Holy Spirit touched him. Please pray that such a supernatural touch would eventually lead to a deep heart transformation!
It broke our hearts to learn that a Hui Moslems Caleb was reaching out to, was forcibly arrested by the police right after he had made the decision to give up pushing drugs. We now have no news of him at all.
Please uphold Caleb and his team as they faithfully bring Jesus’ love and light into the dark alleys of this community. May they win the fierce battle for hearts and lives here as they reach out to the families of the children and youth. May they themselves also be protected as the authorities has designated the area they live and minister in as very unsafe to be hanging around in.
