CONVERGE missionaries, Mao and Phoenix leads this initiative from out of East Asia as they seek to mobilize, train and send workers to bring Christ’s presence into Hui communities, seeking for gospel movements to take place among this people group.
… but the Workers are Few
Looking to the Lord of the Harvest
The house-church in East Asia provides a potential immense harvest force, but the believers in the Han Chinese underground church have been unwilling to go to the Hui people because of past history of conflicts and bloodbaths, prejudice and ignorance. God is however moving amongst the Han Chinese church calling them to reach the Hui. They often lack knowledge and skills to intentionally connect with and reach the Hui in a culturally-sensitive way.
Yet God is working amongst the house-church for the sake of the Hui unreached-people – the leaders and believers are beginning to respond to the need to engage this people group even though they often do not know how to.
Mao experienced God’s call to East Asia while studying in the U.S. Since then, God has allowed Phoenix and I to serve in missions in Hong Kong and East Asia, where we have seen fruit with the Lord’s enabling and blessing. Through a course we attended years ago, God began to speak to us about the tremendous spiritual needs of the Hui Chinese Moslem people group.
Numbering more than 14 million in the country we serve in, it is the largest Chinese-Moslem group amongst all the other Muslim groups.
We want to see more local workers mobilized, trained and mentored to work with this people group, and hope to create sustainable, multiplying gospel movements, even as we partner with the persecuted underground church.
Indeed the fields amongst the Hui are white for harvest, but the labourers are few!
